The Casa Luna Cooking School classes provide a fascinating insight
into Balinese life, beliefs and culture through learning about its food,
cooking and culinary myths. Class discussions are relaxed and friendly and are held in the
elegant grounds of the Second Honeymoon Guesthouse. They include
specific references to the role of food in Balinese society, its
ceremonial use and religious importance.
Participants learn about the exotic herbs and spices used in
ceremonial and everyday Balinese dishes and are encouraged to actively
help prepare the lavish Balinese feast that will then be enjoyed with a
glass or two of the local rice wine or homemade hibiscus tea.Complete class notes are provided.

Monday ( 9.30am — 1.00pm ) - Spiced fish in banana leaves - Fragrant fish curry - Asian spinach in tomato sambal - Carrot & cucumber salad - Black rice pudding
Tuesday market tour ( 8.00am — 1.00pm) - Mie Goreng - Tempe curry - Roasted white eggplant - Fern salad - Green coconut crêpes
Friday beginners class ( 9.30am — 12.00pm ) - Nasi goreng - Chicken satay - Krupuk - Peanut sauce - Fruit in coconut milk
Gourmet food tour : Sunday-Palm sugar and sea salt ( 8.00am — 2.00pm ) - Minimum booking 4 persons. Enjoy a tour to the majestic East and witness the time-honoured technique of making caramel-flavoured palm sugar in a charming hillside compound followed by a visit to the coast to see the making of fresh sea salt. Savour a seafood lunch nearby at a famous local warung for that authentic Balinese eating experience. Meet at Casa Luna 8.00am. CLASS NOT INCLUDED
“NEW” Gourmet food tour : Thursday & Friday Night Market Feast ( 6.00pm — 8.30pm )
Visit the bustling Gianyar night market at dusk and experience the ambiance of a Balinese pasar. Learn as you stroll through the markets about the local snacks and traditional market food. This is followed by an open-air feast of home-cooked specialties, from braised chicken to marinated satay, spicy greens and grilled seafood. Refreshments included. Meet at Casa Luna at 5.15pm.
